The MM Foramen Free bridle was developed by Dutch equine dentist Marcel Michielsen. The bridle, and especially the design of the noseband, helps reduce wear on the molars in the upper and lower jaws.
The specially developed noseband of the Foramen Free bridle has two anatomical recesses on the underside where the padding has been omitted, creating space for unobstructed movement and passage of the nerves and blood vessels that exit the infraorbital foramen at that point. These anatomical recesses allow the noseband to be tightened securely, keeping the bit in front of the molars, where it should be, allowing the nerves and veins to freely supply sensation and blood to the nasal area. This prevents wear on the molars and benefits the horse's well-being and the rider's safety. If the bit gets caught between the horse's molars due to a loose noseband, the rider loses control.
The Foramen Free bridle is approved by the KNHS (Royal Dutch Horse Federation). The noseband has been designated Very Horse Friendly by the FEI and approved for use at all FEI events.
The headpiece is also specially designed, anatomically shaped, and softly padded. It features a hanging browband, which helps reduce pressure on the horse's ears. Concealed closures on the cheekpieces and reins.
